EASE is for all workers.

For managers going through EASE, there are a number of "Management Memos".

These are for managers who have some responsibility for the environment. Some managers have complete responsibility for environment matters.

Increasingly managers will find they have some responsbility related to the one or ther of the environmental managment functions - e.g audit, accounting, This will occur in the NHS as the environmental "programme should be integrated into the organisation’s strategic and business plans.

The main aim of these memos is to indicate the environmental management functions related with the particular EASE
activity. The memo helps managers support the EM Standard

The Management Memos pick out key environmental management functions.

They are

Policy Making (hyper to relevant page)
Target Setting (ditto - do we need interrrmediate 'guide' para?)
Legal Compliance (ditto)
Benchmarking, including to Control Assurance Standards (on splash page at present..could go in EMS page)

The sorts of skills and underpinning knowledge to carry out these environmental functions are well spelt out in the NVQ for environmental management. This is Level 4 in vocational qualification terms.

The specific EM functions chosen here are those that will support employees in fulfilling their roles for the NHS EM Standard.
