9. Local Community

There is greater responsibility on companies to manage their affairs without creating a noise nuisance, smells, or dirty rivers. One bad environmental incident can ruin years of building confidence in the community. Some companies have realised that if they want to expand or gain future planning permission, it is sensible to keep the local community and council on side.

Insurance companies are giving less blanket policies and splitting the possible environmental risks in to a number of categories. Insurance companies are becoming proactive and predicting possible losses rather than waiting for them to happen.
