Guide to Unit 3

When you Implement your proposal for improved environmental practices, involve others in whatever you do. As Gandi said: "people should be involved in the change they want to bring about."

1. You may implement changes, which demonstrate reduced impact on the environment, in work practices that you carry out yourself.

2. Or you could persuade a colleague to carry out improved environmental practices. If you do this you will have to obtain a witness statement from them.

3. Or you could influence management to implement environmental practices. You could make your case at a team meeting, a management meeting, SHE Committee, or branch meeting.

You will need to make a case for implementing a new Environmental Practice.

This will consist of:

Plan - Outline of Environmental Practice
Which Environmental Principles are involved

How Environmental Impacts are affected
Social: Who is doing what
Technical: What you will be doing
Economic: Cost/Benefit Analysis

Practice: How you intend to implement

You will get people at work to witness the new environmental practices.

Finally you will evaluate how well you got on in your implementation and how it differed from what you expected and what lessons you may have learnt.

One word of advice......
