We have developed targets and indicators throughout environmental practice @ work.

Now we need to see how they work in the much wider world.

Lots of people are playing around with indicators.

Numbers are easier to see than complicated debates about sustainable development.

Sustainable Development Country Profiles use a set of 5 indicators to judge each country. The indicators used include WSSD themes (such as water and energy access), livelihood (poverty and equity), health and environment, rights at work, and government oversight.

According to these indicators, UK comes in No 12 worst out of 180 countries. United Arab Emirates is No 1, followed by USA. Mozambique has the best score.

In the UK, the Department of the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs publish a list Sustainable Development Indicators for your pocket.
