Social Partnerships - Definition

The social element is one of the three key parts of sustainable development. The social element for sustainable development can be demonstrated at work by the active participation of everybody, managers and workers.

'Partnerships' are now the way forward, according to the WSSD Conference. The Conference collected over 220 'Type 2' Partnerships between governments and private organisations.

These partnerships are intended to go beyond the existing framework of depending on UN Conventions to deliver sustainable development.

Perhaps the most important partnership is that between managers and employees and their representatives. This is called "social partnership".

People are probably the greatest under-used resource in the environment. Employee participation helps both demonstate sustainable development and makes good use of resources....
