WHAT IS THE NHS ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT STANDARD?

The NHS Environmental Managment Standard is based on the international ISO 14001 environmental System. The NHS Standard lays down a series of Criterion on which to judge the environmental performance of the Trust. The EM Standard does not require the paperwork of gaining outside accreditation, concentrating instead on assessing the environmental risks (in line with the other Control Assurance Standards), and finding targets and indicators for improved performance.
