The Environmental Awareness Scheme for Employees (EASE)
aims to help fulfill the following requirement that the government wants NHS Trusts
to control.

Graphic of your Trust
The Environmental Management Standard is one of over 20 "Control Assurance" Standards. NHS Trusts have to follow these Standards to manage themselves so as to meet their objectives and protect patients, staff, public and other stake holders against risks of all kinds.
The NHS Environmental Environmental Standard (EMS) says:
| "All tasks and processes that pose an environmental risk are managed to minimise any negative impact on the environment". |
Criterion 7 of the NHS EM Standard requires:
| "Appropriate training relevant to the achievement of environmental policies, objectives and targets is provided to all staff within the organisation that helps comply with EM Standard " |
EASE helps the Trust provide evidence of this training.

This Guide outlines how this EASE e-learning
programme works and aims to:
- Support employees in completing EASE
- Explain learning outcomes on the journey
- Provide rationale for learning activities
We all 'learn by doing'. EASE asks people to work through
a series of tasks to encourage learning and thus become aware of the main environmental
concerns and the processes being implemented in the Trust to and how to address
them.
This education method addresses the learner as much as the trainer
and fits with the UK government's drive for more learning and skills development
at work.
The programme is aimed at all employees, so conforms to requirements at Intermediate level - or '2' in vocational terms. Supporting activites are provided for Advanced level (3 vocationally) and for Managerial materials (level 4). More information on levels and how they fit with roles see Screen 10.
