STAFF WITH ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Help, Hints, Tips for Advanced Activities

Some Trust Staff have been given "Environmental Responsibilities". This may include Senior Nurses, Estates Officers, H&S Officers, Personnel Officers, Lab workers or Trade Union Representatives

The purpose is to help improve performances in specific areas: waste, water, energy, transport and procurement.

These staff will be to help translate management policies into practical actions. This may involve helping set and achieve targets relevant and meaningful for their area.

In order to spell out what training they require, EP@W has developed their Environmental Skills Framework. This identifies the learning and skills needed at an Advanced level (vocationally Level 3) to support the NHS EMS.

Advanced Module

"Staff with Environmental Responsibilities" may wish to carry out the following Advanced Actitvities that occur throughout the EASE:

  1. Environmental Risk Assessment
  2. Help Set and Achieve targets
  3. Implement Environmental Practices  for Waste, Water, Energy, Transport, Procurement.

The tasks ask responsible staff to carry out a range of more complex actions, such as "assess" and "analyse".

It may be possible to present this Advanced Module as evidence of Continuing Staff  Development.
