Identifying all the aspects of your business and filtering them to decide which may pose a significant risk to the environment is similar to carrying out a Health and Safety risk assessment. We have developed a series of questions for to use for each aspect of your business to help you determine priorities for action.

You need to identify the significant environmental aspects together with their actual or potential impacts. The first job is to identify your aspects. This is everything coming into the business, in other words your resources, what is going on within the business using these resources, and what goes out - wastes and products. When carrying out your Initial Review you identified all the activities your business carries out. Use the spreadsheet you developed for the intiatil review and add in additional columns as below:

activity / Task / Resources / Pertinent Legislation / Emissions to air /Discharges to water /Solid Waste/Risk Factor / Training Requirements / Recommendations.

First concentrate on whether anything in the activity is covered by legislation, and then the possible environmental impact:
