LO 2. Know his/her role in the business with regard to health and safety
The health and safety roles for people working on the land is outlined by law.
Employers have a duty of care for their employees, as far as is reasonably practicable.
Employees should take reasonable care of their colleagues.
People have different roles at work in relation to health and safety. Employers are responsible for the overall H&S "culture". This sets the tone of what how health and safety is approached and dealt with at work. Employers have a general duty to take care of all work aspects - from when you come in, what you goes on, to when you leave. They are required by law to do everything to reduce risks that involve excessive costs.
All employees are expected to take care of eacg other, and to cooperate with employers when establishing safe systems of work.
Between managers and supervised workers, are supervisors, skilled workers, union reps - people with freedom to move round. They have a crucial role in translating safety policies into practice.
2.3 Identify what responsibilities/good practice the employee has in the use, care and
replacement of PPE provided for use at work, to include:
• Follow instructions for using PPE
• Maintain PPE as instructed
• Store PPE in suitable place
• Request replacement PPE if it becomes damaged/unusable improve health and safety
