Case Study
Ethically Traded Flowers?

We are going to use this case study to show you how you can assess your local conditions and determine whether they conform to the requirmeents of "Sound Sourcing".

In 2004, the ETI investigated a complaint that flower sourcing in Kenya was not conforming to Ethical Trade criteria and came up with several areas of concern including:

"barriers to freedom of association and poor worker knowledge about basic labour laws and standards."

We will follow this criterion "Freedom of Association" (link) to show you how you can decide whether their findings conform to 'Sound Sourcing'
