Child Labour Issues

There are an estimated 250 million children under the age of 14 working around the world; 120 million of them work full time.

Child labour ranges in severity from light, safe work combined with schooling to hazardous work performed by children and child-bonded labour. The worst forms of child labour are when children are exploited, put at risk and/or denied an education and a childhood.

UNICEF UK says 1 in 12 forced into child labour.

Hundreds of children have marched in the Indian capital, Delhi, to demand their right to free education instead of forced labour. Politicians and activists joined nearly 1,000 children as part of a campaign to push for children to be put in school, instead of working in sweatshops or as domestic help.
