Safe & Hygienic Working Environment Issues

Good health and safety management reduces risk to your workers and to your business. The first step to improving working conditions is to carry out a risk assessment. This is a careful examination of what could cause harm to people, to make sure that no-one gets hurt or become ill.

Step One: Look for the hazards
Step Two: Who might be harmed and how?
Step Three: Decide whether you can remove the hazard
Step Four: If not, how can you control the risk?
Step Five: Draw up an action plan.

Every year, more than 1.2 million people world-wide die of work-related accidents and diseases.

More than 160 million workers fall ill each year due to workplace hazards. The poorest, least protected - often women, children and migrants - are also among the most affected.

Micro- and small enterprises account for over 90% of enterprises where conditions are often very poor and the workers in them are often excluded from all labour protection.
