Accommodation - Law

  • Employers must provide, at the employer's expense, reasonable housing accommodation for each employee either at or near the place of employment, or shall pay to the employee a sum sufficient for rent, in addition to wages, for the employee to obtain reasonable accommodation.
  • Every employer must provide a sufficient supply of wholesome water at the place of employment and within a reasonable distance from housing accommodation.
  • If provision of food is agreed in the contact, the employer must ensure all employees are sufficiently fed and provides with means of cooking, at the employer's expense.

This means that:

  • Accommodation must be separate from production areas.
  • Accommodation must have adequate fire safety equipment and exits.
  • Accommodation must be safe and hygienic
