CASE STUDY

An ETI pilot scheme in Zimbabwe's agricultural export industry, discovered sexual harassment in three of the four farms that took part, as well as breaches of the ETI code provisions on hours, conditions and health and safety standards.

The farms have now set up a whistle-blowing system so that women can report harassment and other problems. The farm owners have established the Agricultural Ethics Association of Zimbabwe with its own code, which they aim to apply to the entire export sector. More than 200 farms have signed up to the code.
