Introduction

Environmental practice at work consists of three units.
Progressing through the three units, you will learn about the environment, then learn through the environment, and then learn for the environment.

It is assumed that you have some autonomy and freedom of movement at work. This will enable you to go and ask questions, check out sources and carry out a range of work-based activities.

This programme is intended to fit with environmental management. If your organisation is implementing, intends to implement or has implemented an environmental management system, you should complement that system.

The programme sets up a process to promote practical improvements in environmental performance.

The process consists of developing environmental awareness, which you then use to assess environmental risk and help set priorities for action.

Based on these assessments, you will then make practical suggestions for improvements, which you will present to your management or other appropriate bodies.
