Step 3 Grower Approval

Your procedure for approving growers / grower co-operatives and marketing organisations needs to make provision for the Co-operative requirements.

Effective communication between suppliers and growers is a key to ensure that no Banned or Prohibited pesticides are used on Co-operative produce.

You will need to be able to demonstrate that:

You have provided the grower with a copy of the Co-operative Pesticide Code of Practice together with the Co-operative Pesticide Lists

The grower has signed an undertaking agreeing to adhere to the Co-operative Code of Practice and Pesticide Lists

A completed Pesticide Undertaking is required annually from each grower comprising:

Letter of explanation from you, the Co-op supplier, to your growers explaining what you require from the grower as far as compliance with pesticide code to enable the grower to meet Co-op requirements for their produce.
Signed undertaking allowing you access to growers records and to complete risk assessment visits and audits.
Pesticide use statement - This outlines your growers proposed pesticide applications for that year/season/crop
