Helping make improvements

Welcome

Do you want to make improvements to the environment at work?

Our online learning materials help people to do things differently. By doing things differently at work, we can control our environment and become more sustainable.

Workplace

Where better place to do things for the environment than at work? Workplace organisation can provide the support to make changes. Through the UK learning skills network, you can be recognised for your contribution - according to national standards.

The workplace offers the opportunity for individuals to work together to improve the way we treat the environment, or to promote sustainable development. 'Learning by doing' helps both individuals to understand the issues better and the organisation to demonstrate improvements.

Skills

In order to determine what needs to be done, we follow various standards that have been established. In particular, we look to UK National Occupational Standards and international standards for health and safety or environment systems to help define good working practices.

These serve as the basis for providing the necessary 'competencies' - skills and understanding, to make improvements - key to any quality systems. These skills are 'generic' as they can apply to anybody in any organisation.

Fittest

All the signs are that organisations who can deal confidently with health and safety, the environment, and sustainable development are going to be the ones best fitted for business life in the 21st century.

The techiques we use fit the general requirements of the UK vocational training system, and thus should be eligible for funding by government schemes. This government wants to develop over a million more people with new skills within 3 years. The bodies involved , such as colleges and awarding bodies, are in place to help support funding for these new skills that promote sustainability.
